However, Columcille felt called to a different life. He left his home and family and traveled to the monastery of Bangor in County Down. There he studied under the great abbot Finnian.

In 563, Columcille founded the monastery of Iona on the island of Iona off the coast of Scotland. Iona became a major center of learning and spirituality in the Celtic Church.

Columcille was a gifted teacher and a powerful preacher. He was also a skilled craftsman and a talented poet.

Columcille is best known for his missionary work in Scotland. He traveled throughout the country, preaching the Gospel and founding new churches.

Columcille's work had a profound impact on the people of Scotland. He helped to convert them to Christianity and to establish the Celtic Church as a major force in Scottish society.

Columcille died on Iona in 597. He was buried in the monastery's graveyard, and his grave became a place of pilgrimage for centuries.

Columcille is a beloved and revered figure in both Ireland and Scotland. He is a symbol of the Celtic Church and a reminder of the power of faith.

Neil Hunter's biography of Columcille is a captivating and inspiring account of the life of this extraordinary saint.

The book is based on extensive research and is written in a clear and engaging style.

Hunter brings Columcille to life, and his book offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of the early Celtic Church.

If you are interested in the history of Christianity or in the life of one of the most beloved saints of the Celtic Church, then I highly recommend reading Columcille Friend Of The Angels.
