In this thought-provoking and wide-ranging book, Diane Watt argues that sexuality is not simply a personal or individual characteristic, but is also shaped by the social and physical spaces in which we live. Drawing on a variety of case studies from around the world, Watt shows how the built environment, the natural environment, and the social and cultural landscape can all influence our sexual experiences and identities.

Watt's work is particularly important in light of the recent rise of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment in many parts of the world. By decentering sexualities, Watt shows that there is no one "normal" or "natural" way to be sexual. Instead, she argues that sexuality is a complex and fluid construct that is constantly being shaped by our interactions with the world around us.

'Decentering Sexualities' is an essential read for anyone interested in the intersection of sexuality and space. It is a groundbreaking work that challenges traditional understandings of sexual identity and desire, and offers a new way of thinking about the relationship between our bodies and the world around us.
